One of the most impactful projects I’ve been lucky to work on was the Puget Sound Fusor project in 2021. It was awesome to collaborate on such a cool project with a group of very talented physicists. I’ve always been interested in physics, and while computer science is much more my passion, being able to combine the two was really enjoyable.
I noticed a while back that the official website for the project, www.upsreactor.com, had been taken down. I suspect since the project has been over for some time that the domain registration expired. The site included progress reports, blog posts from all of the participants, photos, and some general background info. Fortunately, some copies still exist on the Internet Archive, but it’s tricky to navigate, buggy, and undiscoverable.
Since I’ve been linking to upsreactor.com from my homepage for as long as it has existed, I couldn’t continue to share a dead link and I wanted to preserve the projects history, so I’ve made a little write-up. I included some background info, a summary, and my role in the project and put it on my website: here. I also added some new images which weren’t on the old site.
I think it turned out quite nice so I thought I would mention it with a blog post; otherwise there’s no way to know that the link on the front page had been updated.
